Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

Anza-Borrego was established as a park in 1933.

It covers more than 900 square miles.

The park is in the Colorado Desert in eastern San Diego County.

These mountains in the park were created by the San Jacinto earthquake fault.

The desert landscape is home to endangered Peninsular bighorn sheep.

Scientists study the bighorn sheep herd in the park.

Anza-Borrego also includes badlands.

Millions of years ago, the park was underneath an ocean, leaving sediments behind. They help from the badlands.

Flower lovers flock to Anza-Borrego in the spring for desert wildflowers.
